WORKSHOP FOR CHESTER COUNTY RESIDENTS!
IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE TENNESSEE ARTS COMMISSION AND FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY, JUD DAVIS PHOTOGRAPHY BRINGS YOU THE PHOTO BOOTCAMP. THIS WORKSHOP IS DESIGNED TO HELP EVERY DIGITAL CAMERA OWNER BECOME FRIENDS WITH THEIR DSLR OR MIRRORLESS CAMERA TO CREATE WORKS OF ART THROUGH A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF PHOTOGRAPHY BASICS.

TOPICS WE WILL COVER:
Aperture
You will learn how to find the perfect aperture for portraits to sports photography. That dial on the front of your camera will be the key to enter an entire new creative space for your photographs.
Shutter Speed
Whether its catching that soccer ball going in for the score at just the right moment or shooting night photography and the Milky Way, the Bootcamp will give you the skills needed to do both!
ISO
Learn why some of your photos are grainy and why some are clear. Learn the limitations of your camera and how you can take advantage of each one to create the best photos.
Composition
Why do your pictures look different from everyone else? Is it your camera? Could it be your lens? No matter the camera or lens you have. the Bootcamp will help you better frame your photos for that polished perfect professional photographer look.
Posing
Whether photographing a child or a grandparent, posing is a challenge. This workshop will give you a crash course to make sure you know how to make your friends and loved ones look perfect in ever photo.
Editing
Learn basic tips in all editing software to make those simple changes that make such a huge difference in your final photograph.
Keeping Photos
Learn how to ensure that you never lose your digital photos through digital storage and hard drives.
Workflow
Learn the most efficient way to transfer your images from your camera, to your computer or phone, to the internet while never sacrificing quality.

5:30 p.m. Golden Hour Portraits and Landscapes. Travel to historic place in Chester County and photograph people and landscapes during golden hour (weather permitting)

Each attendant will submit one photo from the workshop that will be printed, framed and displayed in a gallery show at the Troy Plunk Art Gallery. Refreshments will be provided.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to bring my own camera?
Yes. You must have access to a camera, preferably one with a removable lens (dslr or mirrorless).
Do I have to know anything about photography to attend the bootcamp?
No. Just bring your camera, we will do the rest!
Is there an age limit?
Any one 15 years of age or older may attend. People younger than 15 could receive approval upon request. This is open to all Chester County residents.
Is this a Chester County Bootcamp?
Yes! This bootcamp is intended for Chester County residentsQ
Is there really an art show a week later?
Yes! On June 8, we will host an art show so our new photographers can show off their great work!
What if I can only attend part of the bootcamp?
As you look at the schedule you will see the bootcamp provides a lot of opportunity for successful shooting. However, if you are only interested in the camera operation section of the bootcamp, we would love to have you. The most important part of the workshop is the morning of June 1. Plan to be there for that part of the bootcamp.
How is the Bootcamp free to Chester County residents?
Through a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission, sponsors Freed-Hardeman University and Jud Davis Photography, the Bootcamp is free to all residents.
On a scale of 1-10, how awesome will this Bootcamp be?

Where will the Bootcamp take place?
Inside the Bulliner-Clayton Visual Art Center on the Campus of Freed-Hardeman University.

Jud Davis
Jud has been a photographer for 35 years specializing in portrait photography. Jud is an associate professor of art at Freed-Hardeman University and holds advanced degrees including an MA and MFA in photography from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Delaney of Corinth, Mississippi, is a 2023 graduate of Freed-Hardeman University holding degrees in photography and public relations. Her photography focuses on the intricate use of color and light to create specific moods, emotion and narrative.
